A native of Seoul, Korea, Woon-Sung Choi began piano studies at the Yewon School of the Arts and the Seoul High School of the Arts with Ms. Sujung Shin, Kyung Suk Lee, Aejung Shin. During her teenagers, Ms. Choi was a prize winner of various competitions including those sponsored by The Korean Times and The Monthly Music Magazine. As an undergraduate student at Seoul National University in the class of Ms. Woon-Kyung Kang, and Ms. Haesun Paik, she had the honor of being awarded alumni scholarships. Ms. Choi was a First-Prize Winner of the Eumak Chunchoo Competition which sponsored her recital at Moonhwailbo Hall in Seoul.

Woon-Sung Choi pursed her graduate studies at the Manhattan School of Music in New York where she received her Master of Music, professional study certificate, and Doctor of Musical Arts as a student of Ms. Nina Svetlanova, and Mr. Mark Pakman, and for her chamber music study with Dr. Joanne Polk, and Mr. Daniel Epstein.  She received MSM President’s Scholarship and fellowship during her DMA studies at Manhattan School of Music. As her DMA degree thesis, Ms. Choi wrote “Liszt’s Piano Transcription on Berlioz’s Symphonie fantastique under the guidance of Dr. Jeffrey Langford. Afterwards, Ms. Choi went to Indiana University at Bloomington as a recipient of Friends of Music Scholarship where she acquired Performer Diploma under the guidance of Dr. Karen Shaw.

She gave a New York debut recital at Weill Recital Hall in Carnegie hall as a winner of Artists International Presentations and in Merkin Concert Hall as a reward of Artists International Competition Winner-Series. Besides, Ms. Choi gave numerous performances in various halls: in USA, Ford Hall, Recital Hall, Hubbard Hall, Greenfield Hall, Pforzeimer Hall, Sunset Concert Hall, and Steinway Hall, and in Korea, Seoul Arts Center, Sejong Chamber Hall, and Mozart Hall.

Ms. Choi participated in MSM Summer Music Camp as a faculty and an accompanist and also worked as a lecturer at Seoul National University, Gachon Unversity, and Hyupsung University in Korea.

Currently, Ms. Choi lives in France as an active soloist as well as a chamber music player. She has studied at Ecole Normale de Musique de Paris where she achieved Diplômes Spécialisés de Musique Française, Perfectionnement, Diplôme Supérieur d'exécution à l'unanimité in solo and chamber music with Ms. Young Shin An, Ms. Genevieve Martigny, Ms. Françoise Thinat and Mr. Henri Barda. As having participated in Academie de Musique Francaise, Ms. Choi had an opportunity to share her ideas of  her french repetoires with a well-known pianists such as Mr. Jean-philippe Collard, Mr. Michel Beroff, Ms. Marie-Catherine Girod. She has played in numerous halls in France such as Salle Cortot, Espace Bernanos, Centre Tchèque de Paris, Salon de la Vénerie in la Mairie de Paris 8eme, Saint Philippe-du-Roule, Fondation Taylor, Centre Culturel Coréen and Cathédrale Sainte-Croix-des-Arméniens. 

Ms. Choi has a keen interest in the french composers' works and the contemporary music which she is indebted to the American composer, Dr. Nils Vigeland from Manhattan school of music.
