Dr. Yunhee Kim recently received her doctoral degree in Piano Performance and Literature as well as a master’s degree in Piano Pedagogy at University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign (UIUC) under the guidance of Prof. Ian Hobson and Prof. Christos Tsitsaros. As an active performer, Dr. Kim performed in concert venues including the Carnegie Hall, the Lincoln Center and the Krannert Center. She also performed as a soloist with the Tatarstan National Symphony Orchestra of Russia as well as the Sinfonia da Camera Orchestra as a winner of the Summer Piano Institute Concerto Competition. She won the first prize in the Illinois State Music Teachers Association College Piano Competition, and top prizes in various other competitions. She also worked in master classes with world-renowned pianists including Ian Hobson, Richard Goode, Victor Rosenbaum, Stanislav Loudenitch, Jonathan Biss, Min Kwon and Lori Sims. As an educator, Dr. Kim taught at the Piano Laboratory Program, led a keyboard class, and accompanied for instrumentalists at the Illinois Summer Youth Music. Dr. Kim currently resides in the state of Massachusetts (since 2019), serving as a staff accompanist at Dean College and as a piano instructor at King Open Community School. She also serves as a piano teacher at Magdalen College and as the principal organist at First Church in Marlborough.
